Ganga Dussehra — Ganga Snan & Puja

Ganga Dussehra marks the day Ganga descended from heaven to earth through Shiva's locks, brought down by King Bhagirath's penance to free his ancestors. "Dasha-hara" means remover of ten — bathing in or worshipping Ganga on this day is believed to wash away ten kinds of sin (three of the body, four of speech and three of the mind), so the number ten runs through the whole puja.
