The strictest of the 24 Ekadashis, kept in the peak of summer without even a drop of water. The Puranic story says Bhima, who could not stay hungry, was told by Vyasa that keeping this one waterless fast earns the merit of all Ekadashis of the year — hence the name Bhimseni or Pandava Ekadashi.
