Sakat Chauth (also Til Chauth or Magh Sankashti) is the winter Sankashti when mothers fast for their children. Ganesha, the remover of obstacles (sankat), is worshipped with sesame and jaggery, the Sakat katha is heard, and the fast ends only after offering water to the rising moon.
