Shanivar Vrat (Shani Dev & Hanuman)

Shani, son of Surya and Chhaya, is the planet-deity of karma and justice; his periods are feared but he rewards honesty, service and discipline. Saturday worship with mustard oil, black sesame and iron, together with Hanuman (who is said to have freed Shani from Ravana's prison), is believed to ease Shani's hardships.
